NYPD GRADUATING CLASS SEPTEMBER 28, 1970 - 40 YEAR REUNION
SECOND NOTICE THE DATE IS FAST APPROACHING
A few months ago, notices were sent out to some 300 members of the service who graduated the NY Police Academy on Sept 28, 1970 notifying them of an upcoming 40 year reunion this fall.
A committee consisting of John Andrews, Mike Gorton and Jim Serra have been working diligently to put this event together and make it a success.
With the help of personnel at the pension section, notices were mailed to members at the address they get their pension checks and/or statements.
The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, Sept. 25th at the Baron Dekalb Knights of
Columbus Hall located at 3000 Emmons Ave in Sheepshead Bay at 6 PM.
The cost is $65 and will include dinner and a 4 hour open bar.
The original cutoff date to obtain tickets was August 1 but this date has been extended until September 10, 2010.
If you have an interest in attending, please contact the committee members listed below and remit your payment as soon as possible as we will need to give a final headcount to the caterer.
BECAUSE OF THIS, WE CANNOT ACCEPT PAYMENT AT THE DOOR
For any members interested in attending, there will be a Prayer Service at Saint Athanasius located at 61 Street and Bay parkway from 2:30 to 3:30 pm on the date of the reunion. This will be officiated by 2 N.Y.P.D. Chaplains ( Rabi Kass and Monsr. Cassato).

The New York State Fraternal Order of Police Foundation is hosting its “HEROES” Luncheon” which will be held on: October 6, 2010 at 11:30 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, N.Y.
The following two special humanitarians who exemplify the meaning of “Hero” will be recognized.
Dr. Gerald Ente, who has devoted his life to helping others. Dr. Ente is a renowned pediatric physician, teacher of pediatric medicine, accomplished author, and volunteer for many nonprofit organizations. He currently serves as the President of the New York State Fraternal Order of Police Surgeons Lodge.
“Unsung Hero Award” will be presented to Police Officer Susan Porcello for her commitment to helping people in need and her never ending compassion. A decorated police officer from NYPD's 68th Precinct, Officer Porcello has received numerous civic, police, military and governmental awards.
The proceeds from this event will be distributed to organizations providing advocacy, education and service to those in need. The Foundation intends to support the organizations below with the Heroes Luncheon although we are not restricted to just giving to them:
1- Brittany Miller Foundation
2- Easter Seals
3- National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund
4- New York State Fraternal Order of Police Empire State Lodge Programs
